BLOG-MAS Day 6// Stop Doubting Yourself
"START UNKNOWN + FINISH UNFORGETTABLE"
Today one of my very good friends posted the image you see to the left (or if you are on a phone then above) and it inspired todays BLOG-MAS post, so thank you for being an inspiring voice on my timeline Charmaine, you're the best boo!
So I clicked on the original image and came across @IAMLAURENLYRICS instagram page and she is a fellow boss babe [who from what I can tell from her social media + Katch Kollection website] who has created an empire for herself. And it has inspired what you are about to read below
- it is a long one but I promise you it is a GREAT one. Every so often I lack a little motivation and get into a rut. I mean doesn't everyone, we all have that little voice inside of us that pretty much annoys us with doubt and uncertainty and
honestly it's a hunk of shit.
We can literally do whatever we want in life, and be whatever our little hearts desire. Our minds are SUCH powerful tools, and so many people fall victim to forgetting that, myself included. I did an exercise once with my business + branding coach Bri Long where she had me write out my perfect day from start to finish and it literally put a me into this mode of hustle until I could make it a possibility. A couple of months later I bought a ticket to Seattle, explored the city...saw my dream home and even the EXACT type of building I want to have for the coffee shop I will own one day. I read it frequently and especially on days when I feel a bit discouraged -
Excerpt below from my "Perfect day" -->
"...As I am driving to my favorite little coffee shop in Pike’s Place, I have Jen Sincero’s You Are a Badass playing for the millionth time on the audiobook, because I mean who doesn’t love a little badassery in the morning to get your mood lifted and your Universal Awesomeness in line. I get there and YES parking in the front, it’s like there is an unmarked “Lala’s Spot” written on spot. I walk in and the barista already knows my order “Large iced vanilla latte and skinny blueberry muffin” - she will ask; Ill give her a smile and say yes. I look over to the table by the window and to my utter surprise the table is open, I pay and leave a generous tip, grab my table placer and sit. My phone starts buzzing and I get a notification reminding me about my meeting with Vogue for the upcoming summer collection photoshoot I am working on. I open up my laptop and review the plans for the model casting, we are doing a classic fresh faces of summer piece with Levi’s new collection. I have worked with Levi’s before and I already know that this is going to be amazing. I send out the email to my coordinator of PN Productions to make sure that he gets the reminders for the interns to meet us at the studio next week, summer interns are the best, i love teaching them the in’s and out’s of the production so they can get a taste of what their future holds. Here comes my latte, I take a sip and as usual they added a dash of cinnamon just how i like it. A call comes in and it is the project manager I hired for my coffee shop opening next spring, we chat for about 6 minutes on how the she doesn’t think the window bar will work in the building I purchased, I politely tell her that I will not budge on my vision and it needs to happen. Time to answer emails, as I nibble on my blueberry muffin. 2 ½ hours pass by and I have caught up on emails with vendors, finally finished editing 3 of my new models portfolios and sent them to designers, along with order the “Thank You” gifts for everyone who decided to donate their time to mentoring the models last week at the “Beyond a Photo” workshop. My best friend calls and says we are meeting for a late lunch in about 45 minutes, want to join...I tell her of course. I pack up my things and say goodbye to the employees behind the counter. I get in my car and make my way to lunch spot...damn it feels good to be my own boss".
When you have a vision, an idea, a thought - nurture that baby, fine tune every detail out and JUST DO IT, I mean what is really stopping you?
Is it time? -
Make some, we all have 24 hours in a day...lose a little bit of sleep, use all that extra time to work on
Is it money? -
Sell things you don't use, Offer your abilities for a profit, take on a new part time job and save all of the extra income
Is it that opportunities not coming your way? -
Put yourself in the way of new ones, collaborate and network with people who are in the field you want to be in.
Is it the location? -
Figure out where you need to be and go there, you are not shackled and chained to where you live.
Is it your current job? -
Use it as a stepping stone, take it with a grain of salt, acquire the skills that you deem valuable that you can use in your future endeavors, then once you have the skill set and saved income you need...hand them your 2 week notice and move onto the next step.
Is it the people around you? -
Ditch them, if you are not aligning yourself with people that inspire you and motivate or people who who want to see you doing better then you need to move on from them. Some people are in your lives for a season, and a lesson, it's about to be 2018 - leave the baggage behind and make new friends. - blog post on dealing with this coming soon.
Is it YOU? -
Please Please PLEASE stop doubting yourself my love, you are more than the limitations you place on yourself. The greatest gift you can give to yourself is believing in yourself
