BLOG-MAS Day 3// Amber Grace Photography
Pn Productions x AMBER GRACE
is a special one; over the course of the next couple of weeks I will be featuring up and coming photographers + share their experiences of where they came from, what inspired them to get started and the type of photographers they aspire to be. So without further ado - Let's me introduce you to
"I just want to spend my life being happy and creative + making others feel happy and creative."
Me: Tell us a bit about yourself, your family, and what influences your creative nature?
Amber: I’m Amber Langlais, my husband is Elton Langlais and my daughter is Penelope. Penelope was my beginning inspiration for photography. I didn’t have the money to pay for professional photos but I still wanted to remember her being a baby. I take a lot of influence from everywhere. I constantly try to shoot different styles and in different places from normal beach photos to very urban Graffiti walls. I always just want to get better and I want to love my photos more than I did the last.
Me: Thats amazing hun, and your daughter is such a little cutie as well.So what made you want to take your photography to the next level from only taking portraits of your daughter?
Amber: Your so sweet ! As much as I love my daughter I hated taking her photos. I learned early on that kids is NOT my specialty. I fell in love with boudoir after my very first session with a friend, and as I continue boudoir it makes me so happy to deliver beautiful products to my clients. I hope one day to be One of the most sought after full service boudoir Photographers in the world. I tried to family’s a lot in the beginning still and loved the photos with just the parents the best. I decided from them on it was couples and boudoir.
Me: Girl I can tell you from my own experiences that children and family aren’t my specialty either. I feel like you need a special kind of love and patience be that kind of photographer. With boudoir being the center fold of your passion, are there any photographers who inspire your work?
Amber: I totally agree and I don’t have that kind of patients. When I first started thinking about taking boudoir photos I found this girl name boudoir bell on Instagram. I don’t just love her photos I love her message of body positivity and self love.
Me: I feel like when it comes to boudoir portraits there is a huge misconception when it comes to needing to look a certain way because of how society and the media portray beauty...when it comes to your business what is stance on this?
Amber: Beauty standards in society are unrealistic for most women and I want my clients to feel comfortable just they way they are. All women are beautiful and those standards don’t dictate a beautiful portrait. As a photographer that can mean different poses for different women and different outfits for what’s best on each body type but I won’t ever be photoshopping off pounds or stretch marks.
Me: That is seriously so amazing and empowering, as photographers I feel as though we have an obligation to show all sides of beauty and change what the “norm” is when it comes to standards. Lets switch it up a bit, I noticed that you have done a bit of “blogger” portraits on your social media accounts, is that something you will also offer in your business aside from boudoir and couples?
Amber: Yes !!!! I like shooting with bloggers because it’s a totally different experience. I can put a lot of creativity into it with different styles and locations. Also bloggers are normally in front of a camera often, it’s a nice break not have to give so much direction when I’m shooting.
Me: The collaboration of creative minds is always a great experience. I know that your husband is in the military and you recently moved, how has that affected your business and what advice would you give to other photographers who are in similar situations
Amber: It really is and that’s why I need to collaborate with you ! Honestly I don’t think I have great advice right now other than stick with it, it’s hard and your business may go down as mine has but take the opportunity to better your skills. I’m using this time to get better and create a boudoir room in my home.
Me: We will most certainly collaborate in future together and I am always here for anything you need. + an in home studio would be amazing especially for boudoir. I won’t take up to much more of your time but before we close this interview out, let everyone know where they can find you (location + social media)
Amber: Your so amazing ! Thank you for everything you have done for me already. You can find me on Instagram @amber_gracephotography and on Facebook as Amber Grace Photography and a website is coming soon. This interview was amazing, and as always you're a doll !
Me: Thanks so much doll, I can’t wait to see how you and your business flourish.
