Destination // Seattle, WA with a hint of Vancouver, B.C

Do you ever find yourself in a place and you’re completely taken back by it’s beauty, the atmosphere and the overall location. Then all of a sudden you have an overwhelming feeling of belonging, like it just feels like it’s HOME. That was Seattle for me. Once a year I go on a “Me” trip, I pick a destination, make a plan and once I get there I simply want to get lost in everything the city has to offer. A couple of weeks ago I landed in Seattle, I chose this location specifically because it was one of the first places I lived when I left Puerto Rico at the age of 4 with my mom, and it is also where my mom and dad met and fell in love...so there’s a sense of nostalgic romance attached to the location. BUT also because since I AM the self proclaimed Coffee Shop Connoisseur it was only right that I visit one of the countries coffee capitols.

Oh, and since Canada was literally right there I made an impromptu trip to Vancouver for the day.

When I tell you that I had an IMMEDIATE connection to this place...that is an understatement. The vibes the city gave off, the food was amazing, and the coffee, well let’s just say it was mind blowing. I didn’t really go with an agenda this time, I wanted to simply live in the moment and create an experience that made it feel like home.

LEICA -

I also got to go to one of the Leica stores out in Bellevue and it was literally like being a kid and waking up on Christmas morning to everything you could ever want. I was able to play with the different models they had in store + they let me “Test Drive” the Leica SL which is a beast, and I was instantly in love with the camera’s quality and built in technology.

COFFEE -

I went to Seattle with a list of at least 12 coffee shops that were NOT Starbucks that I wanted to visit and get a feel for the atmosphere of the shop...kind of like field research for my own coffee shop that I want to open one day. So the first one on my list was Slate Coffee which was recommended by one of my favorite coffee shop owners out here in Albuquerque. The shop was minimalistic and clean, their latte was poured into a glass cup which I have never seen before...so kudos points to them for that! I didn’t take pictures of the actual structure and location (I should have though).

Now let me tell you about Anchor Head Coffee,

I literally got stuck here, and became obsessed.

The vibe was so laid back, a mix of industrial with dark moody color, couches and tables,

the whole shop was aesthetically pleasing. Head over to their Instagram and show them some love - @anchorheadcoffee

Oh Canada -

Vancouver was, well I was freezing the whole time I was there. I also didn’t have an agenda...

it was sort of a “hey why not go” kind of day trip.

I went to an old vintage store, walked around and ended up at a halloween themed festival and ended the day going to a restaurant called Nando’s which was my favorite place to eat when I lived in England. BUT it is safe to say that not all Nando’s are created equally. I also randomly came across IMATS Vancouver and snuck inside to get a picture since that’s as far as I could go without getting arrested.

Overall - This was an amazing experience and trip. Seattle feels like where I am meant to be living. If you have been to Seattle let me know what your favorite places are in the comment section.
